Doing some work on the old 86..
I'm going to replace the air pump/exhaust valve at the back of the engine, 302 EFI automatic. Anybody have tips on how to replace it? Looks like i'm going to have to do a head stand to replace it. I don't know if I can even get a wrench back there. I would bypass it but easier to replace in the long run emission wise.
Up till recently I didn't even know about the canister fuel filter and seeing this truck is 20 years old it will be interesting to see what it looks like. I wonder how many trucks went to junker from that filter? It has run terrible for at least three years and currently doesn't run.. on occasion he has to flip the fuel tank switch. Would it be related to that filter? I may find that piece from a Bronco if the filter doesn't fix it, he hasn't used the back tank in 5yrs.
I figure he can get a least ten more years out of it since he no more cows to run over. Now if he can just stay away from those stumps...
