The wild redhead and I finally decided to remove the black peeling/chipping paint from our 06 Lariat badges. We acetoned both side badges and the tailgate badge.
wow good job i like it!.. hell i think they should have made them look like that, Ford would save money becuase they wouldn't have to replace everyone's emblems, i already had mine replaced once. Haven't had any problem with it since though
an easier way to do is , take aircraft remover, put some on the towel, wipe completely across the entire emblem, it bubble, and let it peel up by itself, BAM one swipe and its done! ITS STRONG, so...gloves and i doubled the tape just incase, but yah, mine are perfect to this day.
lineman has a bad attitude about ford for what ever reason.. he was slaming ford AGAIN, not you. But then you knew that lol I wouldn't use aircraft paint remover... it could eat the chrome plating on the badge if left to long, and the chance of getting it on the paint of the truck isn't worth it. that is some serious harsh stuff.
lol I know I know. But anyways, I would just mask off the area and use acetone. This has been done on the older models as well so it is proven to work. But for me, if my emblems were to flake, I would take it back to the dealership for new ones until my warranty runs out.
