Look up haltech. They may be able to help though I don't think they have anything for tranny shifting. AEM has some also. Again most stand alones are for engine management and not really for auto transmission management. Though some may have what you are looking for. Look to spend 1500 on the two I listed though. They can completly replace ecm on manual cars even with forced induction.

A better option may be to get an ecm from a truck that had a 351 and the same tranny as yours. Grab the harness also as yours may not plug right in. Once you have that maybe a piggyback system like the greddy emanage would be a better way to go. Or, and this is more of a bandaid in my opion, you could get an Apex'i S-AFC II and "trick" the ecm into adding more or less fuel if that's the route you want.
Stand alone is for people who have fuel injection and the motor has timing and fuel requirments that exceed what the ECM is capable of. Most stand alones will also monitor knock sensors, O2 sensors, MAP and MAT sensors and still have 3 or more sensor slots left open in case there are things you would like to add after the fact.

Bottom line: If you are doing a stock fuel injected 351 into your truck, the stock ecm from the same year as the motor and tranny will be fine assuming the motor and tranny are streetable. Meaning you don't run a turbo or supercharger with extreme boost. If you plan on running a power adder on the street then chances are you may be able to get away with an Apex'i S-AFCII and the MSD BTM combo or the Greddy Emanage if the boost is kept moderate.
Hope I explained it correctly.

ok ill look into those options. what i want to do is run a 351 carbed. but id perfer to run a 351 that has feul injection. now are the truck 351s the same as the car 351s? cuz that will make a big difference in which route i go.

As far as 351 between car and truck I really don't know the differences if there even are any.

Do you have the motor already? Does the tranny you have bolt to the 351? If you answered no to both then make sure the motor, tranny, ecm and wiring harness are from the same donor vehicle. The motor and tranny will bolt in with minor issues for the most part. The wiring may or may not take some time. If the donor vehicle is close to the same year as yours you may only have minor wiring. If you have to use the entire wiring from the donor then you may be in for some work. Not hard just time consuming.

If your transmission bolts to the 351 motor (and I don't know if it does) then you just need the 351with it's ECM and wiring harness. Wiring will vary as stated above but in this case you don't have to buy the tranny.

The windsor 351 and 302 have the same pattern as the 300 I believe. It would save you a lot of headaches to go with a Ford ECM. Painless may have a harness that will do everything you need.

Another option is Unichip. I don't understand exactly how it works, but it seems to be a really slick system.

If you don't have any of the parts yet then I would get all parts from the same truck. Make sure you get the wiring just in case. At that point mount the motor and tranny and see if the ECM will plug straight into your wiring. By that I mean check to see if all wiring is the same between the two trucks. If so you may be able to just plug and play. But don't count on it. Be prepared for some wiring.
