1950 F2 transmissions
1950 F2 transmissions
Acquired a 1950 F2 for restoration 4 months ago and also got an extra engine, tranny, and rear end as part of the deal. I'm trying to figure out what the differences are between the tranny in the truck and the spare one. The one in the truck is stamped N9 (is a 4 speed) on the side and the other has 58T 7006. Appreciate the help identifying these guys. Thanks.

Are you sure it's 58T 7006? They show a tranny with a 59T 7006 as a spur gear or "crash box" tranny. I can't find anything with a case marking such as N9. The F-1 thru F-8 used the 4 speed spur gear tranny and the F-4 thru F-8 offered the optional 4 speed helical gear synchro silent tranny. I have three different versions of the parts books and the shop manual and this was I could gather from them.

Thanks Barry. I will check the number again in the morning on the one tranny. As far as the other one (which is installed in the truck) with the N9, I will see if I can find any other markings on the case.
Thanks again,
Ron
