97 Stalls while driving

97 Stalls while driving

My truck has been stalling while driving the incidents are less than one second long. At low RPM truck dies, High RPM just a violent jerk and then the truck proceeds as normal. At one point when the event was happening frequently I found a solenoid on the back of the high pressure fuel pump that when you move the sleeve around on it makes the problem better or worse. I do not know what this solenoid is called though. Any help on the issue would be great.

I agree, the CPS is the first thing to look at, very common problem.

Also, remember that whether it turns out to be the CPS or not, it's wise to carry a spare, as it's a pretty common failure.

I recently had the same problem and it turned out to be a loose chip installed in the PCM. It was held in with duct tape, but when I would touch it the truck would stall.

I am looking in to the CPS and also the loose chip right now, the problem is sporadic and has not recurred now for about a week. Thanks for all the help
