The 52 F-1 I have came with a 215 cu inline sian engine I can't find anywhere on the internet)
The 215 was replaced and now there is an inline 6 under the hood now and I don't know how to identify it.
Is there a quick way to tell what engine is under my hood?
Is there a resouce to help me identify it?
This web site has free catalogs and there are pictures of Ford truck engines in the catalog that might be helpful identify your engine. Or, get an engine casting number from the engine and somebody might be able to de-code.
The 215 has the manifolds on the drivers side. On the passenger side its has the oil filter toward the rear, distributor in the center, and fuel pump toward the front. If this description doesn't fit tell us a little more and we can try to figure out what you have.
The manifolds are on the driver's side, but the oil filter is on the front of the passenger's side. The distributor and the fuel pump are near the middle.
Thanks for the help. Someone told me it might be a 223 cu inch
223 would be my best guess. The only other 6 with manifolds on the driver's side was the 262 and it had the (passenger side) fuel pump low and up front with the oil filter directly behind it with the distributor above the oil filter.
