Exterior Cab light rust

I was looking to get those Exterior cab lights for a 2001 excursion. I really like the look but i was told that if you put the cab lights on they will rust the body since you have to drill holes in the roof. is this true?

They will be professionally installed and if they do rust is there a way to prevent it?

I had to have the windshield replaced in my 00 Limited this past summer. I was told by the installer that they won't warranty the seal because the whole top edge of the cab is rotting out. I don't know if it's a design issue or just years of running with a bad seal.

Hey DT, on that '00 X did you ever have a leak at the top left corner of the windshield (sitting in drivers seat)?

From the day it was brand new there was never a leak inside the cab and this is only it's second windshield. Of course that's not saying there may have been a leak that channeled down to the floor and was never noticed.
