i have 1994 ranger 4x4 super cab with 4.0 liter and 5 speed transmission,i think gears are stock...i was just wondering if anyone knows what the towing capacity is,andif this question has been asked before i'm sorry...new to forum
wow...thats alot more than i would have guessed...i just got a 24 foot travel trailor and was trying to figure out if it could pull it...its a older model camper and i still have to find out what it weighs but i figured i would figure my towing capacity first...thanks
I don't think there's EVER been a Ranger rated to pull 7k, but certainly not all of them are, and the chances of an extended cab 4x4 (heavy) with a manual trans (downrated, either because it's weak or because Ford doesn't want you to burn up the clutch (I prefer the second answer)) being rated that high are next to nil.
You say it's got the stock gears, but there were several different ratios offered. You're going to need to figure out which one it is, and go from there.
I'd bet that truck won't safely pull a 24' TT, though.
Oops, I've done a little more reading & that 7000 lbs. is GCWR and that's your truck, passengers, cargo & the loaded trailer.......... The trailer only should be 3200 lbs.....
Sorry bout that man.......
P.S. do you have a owner's guide...? If not I know a place you can download a manual.....
And as for gears, in my 1999 Owner's Guide... It only list 2 sets of gears for a Supercab 4.0L 4WD with manual transmission..... And that's 3.73 & 4.10......
My truck has pulled a loaded 26' camper up & down Signal Mt. TN 2 different times.....! It did bend the rear bumper tho.... Have no idea what it weighted, but it was damn heavy.......!!
