I think you'll be happy. I love my mother-in-law's prius (it's a hybrid too). I saw they advertise 35mpg with the hybrid. That's in town though so I'd expect 24 to 26 highway. They claim 50 or so for the prius and realistically she gets 44.5 according to the on board computer.

Gas prices are out of control, so that's a wise choice indeed.

If you don't mind - How much did you actually pay? What rebates did you get? Details would be appreciated as I'm about to buy one for my wife!

I don't know about 2008's, but they are letting the 2007's go with $4,000 rebates and incentives. Other than some cosmetic changes, it's the same vehicle.

Highway mileage should be closer to 30-32 mpg. At 70 with the a/c on full blast, 28-30 mpg is still easily attainable. Under the new system, the '08's are rated less than the prior years but the powertrain is the same (although improved).

Congrats Avanti. I think you will enjoy it.

Great deal.

I went to the dealer I have done business with for 15 years with full intention of driving home an '08. I brought both of mine for appraisal. They offered me $17k for the '05, $18k for the '06 AND had the ***** to ask for sticker for the '08. I told them I would get back to them...

I wouldn't mind as much but both of mine are spotless, low miles, well maintained and would need absolutely nothing before they went on the lot for sale. I bought both of them at that dealer and bought the '06 literally right off the truck - without even a test drive.

I guess they confused me WANTING one with me NEEDING one. The new ones have some great features that I would like to have - I just need to get off my butt and sell one......

Still awaiting hybrid. Dealer said mine is being made & that the midwest region where I live only got 8 for the month. I guess all are going to the east & west coast. How many does Ford make each month? As there an online side that lists production figures for the factory?

I would like to buy a hybrid Escape. How is the reliability on it and is there a great advantage to using a hybrid?

Here is my experience with my two Escape Hybrids.

2005: purchased March 2005, 23000 miles, mileage since purchase 33 mpg, trips to service department - none, problems with hybrid system- none
2006: purchased June 2005, 22000 miles, mileage since purchase 35 mpg, trips to service department - one (power window motor), problems with hybrid system - none

I do my own maintenance which is no more than a regular car except for the battery a/c filter that needs to be changed every 10-20k miles ($10). My tanks range from 33-39 mpg, my wife gets 30-33 since she does 95% short trips.

How is it that you get to converse with the factory rep?
