please help if you can
302 is a 78 car
These are a couple of places. You may also want to check L&L. I am curious to know if you have a melling m68 or equivilant on your 302. It could be the wrong pump style all together.
Nope that is the correct pump. I checked from 71 all the way up to 92. I even looked at different models to make sure. What kind of pan do you have? I know you said it was a rear sump but who makes it.
This link is what the pan should look like. I took a gander at the notsohotzone pan. That one just doesn't look right. Contact them and see what oil pump is needed to run that pan. You should have a small front sump like the Ford pan to be able to fit the pump.
I put a 85 5.0 HO in a 72 Fastback and went through several attempts with Jack@ZZ's from speed shops trying to sell me a hot rod pan that did NOT FIT the application. Finally wound up with a 67 ? low front sump pan for a 302/289 from guess who "your friendly neighborhood ford parts guy" Yep.. worked like a charm.. my 2¢ ask a Ford person get a Ford answer... BOL...
Best way to find out is mock the block in the truck and measure. Measure from the oil pan rails to the crossmember to see if you will be able to fit the front sump pan. It's easier to take the engine in and out then monkey with a pan that might fit.
I also looked at the dates for production blocks. The 302 is from 83-01 and the 351W is from 69-04. Last I knew all 302's and 351's were identical on the bottom of the block. The 351W has a taller deck hieght mind you. The Canton site doesn't specify what year 302 or 351W blocks as well.
I think he is refering to an actual Ford Parts Dealer. Local auto store employees are lacking in any real knowledge besides what is on the screen in front of them. However with that said there are a rare few that truely know what they are talking about.
thats been my experence thats why iwas asking in my neck of the woods dont nobody at any parts house know a dang thang but whats on that little screen thats what make me thankful for all your help
That I do not know. I used a universal mount system for my truck. You may be able to post another topic to find out or better yet use the search function to see what it comes up with.
