Will a FE starter work with a 400?
My dad just replaced his 428cj mustang's starter this spring for a high torque mini-starter and the place he bought it from said it would work with any Ford, and I just remembered this and was wondering if the old starter out of the mustang would work in my 400....The biggest issue that I could think of was the bolt pattern on the starters.

I have used a 390 starter on a 302, the middle ear just will not bolt up to anything. Also used a 302 starter on a 429 with a nut and bolt on the top ear, it's been on the car since 1977!
