Friction Modifier Needed or Not?
I have a leaking rear diff cover and want to change the gear oil in the rear and fix the leak. Do I need a thing of Friction Modifier? Is there supposed to be a special oil I use in the diff other than normal 80/90 gear oil? I bought some Slick 50 80/90 to re-fill it with. Is this ok? Just need some advice.

It depends on the type of rear end it has. If it is the limited slip style it will need the synthetic fluid and friction modifier to control the clutches from chattering when turning. A standard rear end w/o clutches can use standard gearoil. Look for a tag on the back plate of the rearend and use what it recommends.

If you have 4x4 then you should add the modifier. Check some of the posts here - rear diffs are a huge Topic. I would make certain that whatever you use meets the Ford specification. Definitely go to Ford for the friction modifier.
