Possible move to IL, quick question

I may be moving to Illinois for school in early 08 and I have a quick question. My truck currently has 5% tint on all the windows, including a 5% eyebrow on the windshield. Will the cops there be jerks about it or will they be like the cops in Indy and not give a crap unless I'm doing something stupid? The school I'm planning on going to is UTI in Glendale Heights (looked on a map, West of Chicago).

I have mine tinted too. Think it is 35% so not as dark as yours. I haven't had any problems with it at all so far (knock on wood).

But I am sure it would be reason enough for a cop to pull me over if he/she wanted to.

Well I know in Indiana 35% is the legal limit for window tint, but there's plenty of people with 5%. The way I look at it, if I get pulled over I'll roll my window down, turn my truck off, and set my keys on my dashboard. No biggie.

well i just got my 4th ticket for window tint last month ( yes i learn the hard way). I know that my current car is the last time ill tint due to the issues. it just isnt worth it. Im only 15 mins from glendale heights as well. Its really a hit or miss thing. I havent been pulled over for it for a year and a half before this last time.

I could always pull the "I'm from Indianapolis so I don't know your local laws" excuse for a little bit.

yeah it may work for the first time. They normally give you a fix it ticket and uyou have to go to court to prove it is off. If you do not have a picture, they will actually go out and check it.

I guess I could keep my Indy plates. My cousin went to school in Kentucky for about 3 years and he did it. Guess I could.

It will depend on the driver of the truck and the police officer. My 66 is a LOT louder than my son's 63. I have never been stopped for loud exhaust. My son got stopped a couple times I think because of his age. They were just looking for a reason to stop an kid. In fact, I drove that truck for about 3 months and was never stopped. So, whether a cop will pull you over for tinted windows may depend on the situation. I would leave the Indiana plates on it. Especially when you find out how much Illinois is going to charge you for plates and title registration.
The other way around a tinted window violation is to have a prescription from an eye Doctor that states that you require the tint.

i'm pretty sure that if you are a student you don't have to register new plates?

5% tint is dark?

Yeah 5% is dark. And it's actually kind of weird if I wanted to register my truck in Indiana, because the previous owner of it (before the dealership I bought it from owned it) was from Illinois, so it was previously registered there. I think I'm going to check into my options on keeping my Indy plates on it.
