Help! Oil change issues

Hey, I changed the oil in my dads truck today. I looked on alldata and it said 15 quarts, went to autozone got some oil Valvoline 15W40 Diesel oil. Got the filter i didnt know if it was the right one so i asked the person behind the counter, and i also asked him just to make sure how many quarts it takes and he said 14. It didnt matter i still bought 4 gallons. So i changed the oil, i also cleaned out the K&N Filter with the recharging kit. Got all that done, put it all back together and i put in 14 quarts, just to be safe id rather put oil in than take it back out. The level was good. I put the air cleaner back on and it was still kinda wet from the filter oil. I put it together and dove it to the car wash, left it running while i was washing it, then drove around for another 10 minutes and i noticed that the engine temp was a little higher than what it usually is. Im not sure tho. I dont know if im self conscious or what. I always am after a oil change tho. And also i let it cool down and checked the level again and it was still ok. and the coolant is good. Whats your imput, Not worry about it? Its not on H hot or anything its just a little more than normal. Could it be becuase the filter wasnt dry all the way? Any input please

I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like everything is running OK to me.

At 14 quarts your down a quart, they take 15, but not a big deal, I dont think id worry about the guage all that much, If its not past the normal section into the hot, because theres no way changing the oil and oiling the air filter could do that to ya. and your first diesel? how do you like it? im also on my first, but have been working in a dealership on theese hogs for almost 2 years now, I love mine, wouldent trade it for the world.

OK thanks, Autozone told me 14 and i saw 15 shoulda went with what i saw. O well love our truck. I wouldnt trade it for anything. Its bone stock as of right now and we love the power that motor makes. We are use to 150's so going from a 250 with a 5.4 and then a jump into a 250 with the diesel, its awesome. Well thanks for the help. Mike
