Question Exhaust / Emissions

Went to see about getting a pipe from the CatCon to the muffler replaced. The shop told me that the pipe from AIR PUMP to the CatCon was need of replacement. Ok, it needs replacement, its shot and then some. Remember this truck has 259.000 miles on it. DEALER item only, went to a few parts houses, and was told the same thing, 2 hrs labor to do R & R on the pipe + the cost of the pipe, Price unknown! Is there a way to replace this pipe myself or is it a shop only fix?

There should be no reason why a competant welder or exhaust shop could'nt make it for you for cheap. Its only pipe.

Went to a muffler shop and got a whole new system for $105.00! Now also got the air pump pipe fixed too. Nice and quiet too!

Your signature tells me to see if you got room for the 6-71 Detriot Diesel Blower or not, Measure,Measure,Measure!

There is just enough clearance, with slight modifications

However I just got ahold of a Holley Pro-Jection setup, so Im gonna use the turbo, since a blow-through setup will be much easier than with a carb. The 6-71 idea was little more than a dream from the beginning, but it was a nice dream LOL.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. Pretty good price too.
