Got my DP chip installed yesterday and with the extra power my clutch is slipping bad. Clutch is good running stock tune but turn up the wick and she starts slipping at around 1800 rpm with anything over 1/4 throttle. I've heard of Southbend (kinda pricey for my wallet). Can anybody recommend me a better than stock clutch that can handle some power? Thanks for the help guyz!
LUK and southbend are two good manufacturers. If you don't plan on any additional major mods, then plan on a 350-400hp clutch, you probably are laying down around 290rwhp now. A place i see alot on here that is good is DicsountPowerParts.
I have a LUK and it's been good for 100,000 miles so farr.
Make sure you get a Kevlar pilot bushing instead of using a roller pilot bearing. The bushings last much longer. I'd recommend buying the bushing asap so you have it ready when you get whatever clutch you end up with.
I'd also recommend buying a new master/slave pre bled assy from the dealer for less than $150. Also, there is a PLASTIC pivot inside that you'll want to replace.
Depending on your truck's year of mfg, you might want the updated fork as well.
Went with a Southbend Con O recommended by Garrett at puredieselpower, also comes with the kevlar pilot. Picked up a CCV mod at the same time. Man shipping killed me as usual, $200 UPS ground to Hawaii. We get screwed shipping to the 50th.
