I just had my transmission rebuilt. I have a couple of seperate issues.Oneis poor vacuum, which should be fun to track down. That exited before tranny job. I suspect the vacuum pump, but how can i know for sure? Basically my brakes will work for the first pump but not nopower ssist on next pump until the vacuum has had a chance to rebuild. I suppose it could be the booster, but I disconnected the vacuumline going into it to check the vacuum and it is barely there.
My big problem though(and the one that has the big girl out of commission) is this. On my way home after having the tranny done, it strted losing power. I'm pretty sure it's a fuel delivey problem. I pulled over and it stalled. I started it up and drove home fine. Over the next couple of weeks I hdthe same problem intermittently. It would work fine, then suddenly begin to lose power (even going down the highway) and stall. Eventally it came to the point where I could start it but it won't idle right and eventually stalls. It doesn't run right at all now.It is nolonger an intermittent problem. The fuel filter is fairly new. The wire for the fuel/water light is rusted away so I drained it just in case and didn't see any water.
Check the left side of the engine/trans follow the fuel return line .......from the rear T connector to the FSV (fuel selector vave) make sure the trans guys did no pinch the fuel return line.
Check to make sure all the vacuum lines are connected...... do you get the red brake light.... Check your vacuum at the vac manifold for 21" HG if you want the vac test email me use............ Subject: Vacuum test
also, check your vac reserve canister on wheel well if u have one.many times they look good on top,but on the bottom they rot out, leaking vacuum.this can looks like a black coffee can.
I just looked and I didn't see any pinched lines. I actually tried to order one of those coffee can vacuum reservoirs from a localFord dealer,ad they are no longer available from the dealer.
you can get a universal one from summit or jegs, all u have to do is use pipe fittings out of it for your application.they use em on cars that have hot cams that produce little vac.
