Where is the best place to mount the trans temp sender? Do I need to drain the trans and drop the pan? Or is there a plug that can be removed to mount it there. I searched the old treads but haven't found the right answer.
There is a plug on the drivers side just above the the tranny oil pan. I'm NOT going out to crawl under the truck this early--LOL--but that's where my sender is screwed in. You don't have to drill and tap anything--the sender screws right in and your fluid loss would be extremely minimal if any at all.

yes it's the high pressure test port or something like that. it's the only bolt you should see while looking up at the tranny from the drivers side. i wrapped my sender threads in teflon tape before installing to ensure a good seal. but most importantly DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN, if you break this sender off in the tranny your in a world of hurt! sorry for shouting but very important.
