Hello. I usually hang out down at the '61 to '66 truck forum but I just bought a 1977 f150 and need to tow it home.
I will be using a tow bar and I would like to mount the brackets to the front bumper. The bumper is the standard chrome variety and It appears to be mounted to the frame using two bolts (one on either side of the license plate). Can someone tell me if this is correct? I am wanting to use grade 8 bolts in place of the stock bolts and need to know the size of the bolts currently used in the front. Any info. and advice will be greatly appreciated!
I read a posted question on this forum that asked about the front bumper bolt nut size. The nut requires an 11/16" socket or wrench. Going by that bit of info. I come up with a bolt size of 1/2". I want to temporarily replace that bolt with a hardened bolt for towing using a tow bar attached to the front bumper. Can anyone verify if this is the correct size? Thanks!

Yeah saw that thread and skipped over looking at yours thinking it was the same one. Sorry it's so late. :/
11/16" nuts usually fit a 7/16" bolt and that's the case with my 75 front bumper bolts.
