shooting stick?
I know that isn't the right name for what i want to buy,so maybe some one can tell me the proper name. I need a tripod looking device to take with me when i am getting a gun sighted in so i can take shooter error out of the equation.I know they sell bench rests and things like that,but i have no place to use something like one of those. i shooot out in the woods,no range around here to go to. thanks,Ben

I dunno... Call me wierd, but I think I'd end up going to the hardware store and building my own. Mount it on a tree, make a tripod, small table... whatever suits your needs ideally. It doesn't have to be fancy, and you don't even have to finish it. Just a 2x4 or two and some 3 1/2" wood screws.

I use Stoney Point shooting sticks. They form a nice 'V' to set the fore end of the stock in so you can get a reasonably steady rest. I like them better than bi-pods becasue they're easier to get settled in properly for height in the field.
