F-1 Radiator support

I need to attach my radiator support so I can test fit my front clip. Currently, it attaches with two mismatched bolts through an old chunk of tire. Anyone know how it should mount? Also, how much space between the support and the frame? Thanks-Rusty

It should have a piece of rubber, about 3/8 inch thick. There are 2 carriage bolts that go down thru. Under the crossmember there's a spring on each bolt. There's a flatwasher and a castle nut. There should be a hole in the bolt for a cotter pin to go thru. The front end clip should be able to flex. You don't want it bolted down solid.

Barry, how big of a spring? Valve spring size, perhaps? I think what you're saying is it has to be firmly mounted, but still allowed to flex alittle under extreme conditions. Randy, that was one of the higher quality fixes. No expense was avoided in maintaining this truck. That could be an opinion thread, What was the dumbest thing the PO did to your truck.
