I have noticed that there are two colors of CPS, A Blue one and one that we get on EBay that is black. Any preference of one over the other (apart from cost factor)? MPG??
I have the IHC blue CPS, as my stockie went belly up after 70K miles. It's suppose to "provide a stronger more consistent signal to the computer" giving you a "smoother, quieter and better performance". Perhaps it does on a micro scale you can see with an analyzer, but I haven't noticed any MPG or performance improvements. Doesn't seem to be any quieter either, but I didn't do a decible level test pre and post. The short of it....it's not worth the extra money to me...that is unless it lasts longer than stock.

Did you buy your’s at International dealership or online? It should be around $110 right?
I also run the blue. Bought it at www.puredieselpower.com for $109. Some say the black is better, some say the blue. I have a black as a spare. Paid $50 for it on Ebay.
Thanks guys, I have some idea now, I was reading at http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/ford and it says blue CPS may not get along with certain engine mods(chips). I have SUPERCHIP; so, I guess I will have to stick with the black one form EBay.
Can't beat the $50 ones floating around Ebay. I have the blue and it is nothing more than a fad that came and went. I will have to pull the blue and replace with a black whenever I get a chip.
Stick with the black and buy two for the price of one blue!!!
I have read that too but I have a six position DI chip and the blue CPS and my truck will burn the tires and can be downright scary to drive it's so fast so I don't know where they get that. I haven't stuck a black one in there to see how it runs with it but I cannot imagine it being much better.

Occording to Jody reguarding his tunes, he prefers you have the black CPS while running the DP-Tuner. So I happen to have a spare blue one that I used for a month (before the tuner)if someone has a new black one they want to swap out. PM me if interested.
I have a Blue CPS and a TS chip, and it's working fine. Jody will have to convince me to get a black CPS because i like my blue one.
jody has told me that as well..reason is.. the blue advanses the timming a little bit.they are made for the IH 6 banger... and jody's tunes are made for the black ones..he sets his timming by the black ones...just to give you a heads up
Yeah you don't want to advance the timing too much or you'll overstress the pistons and rods. It's not such a bad deal with mild tuning but when you pour on the coal, then I would be concerned.
