ok guys ask guestion. have 2004 f150 4X4 bought it new has 40,000 miles on it. today is first time i have ever checked transmission fluid. and yes i know how to check it. it was normal operating temperture, had it on level ground with motor running and in park when i checked it showed nothing on dipstick. it was dry. never had any problems with the truck shifting gears or anything runs perfect. know this is silly question but would raising the truck two inches with the leveling kit have anything to do with that or has anyone else had that problem, tys guys
If truck was LEVEL and up to operating temp, you'd best be buying some ATF. Purchase exactly what the dipstick or manual tells you to get. First INSURE that the dipstick was firmly seated and check again. Only add about a pint at a time. It comes up the stick fast it it's just below the end of the stick.
When you say it was up to operating temp. did you drive it or just let it idle?
The fluid expands alot when the trans gets hot. If you do add it put a pint in at a time and error on the side of not so full.
Oh and if you do add fluid be prepaired to wait along time for the fluid to run down the tube so you can get a accurate reading on the stick.
