I'm replacing the doors on my '80 with doors from a '91. The '91 doors have no interior panels (don't want 'em anyway) and power windows which I want to convert to manual. Can I remove the motor and use manual crank parts with that regulator. I'm sure I saw a thread about this some time ago but can't find it in searching.
You have to swap the entire regulator. Drill out the aluminum rivets holding the regulators to the door and swap them with ones from your '80 doors. If you plan to use pre-'87 door panels, you will also need the small metal brace that the phillips screw in the door panel's armrest goes into. You'll have to drill small holes in your doors to use your '80 braces. Measure off your old doors to get the holes correctly placed.
If you are going to use 1980 panels, you'll have to do something about about the door lock ****. IIRC, in 1980 only it was a slide type thing in the door panel. Thereafter a regular "lock ****" at the top edge of the door panel. If you use 81-6 door panels on your new doors it won't be a problem.
