When switching to the F250 B code rear springs, how much lift increase will there be and must you also switch out the front springs? I am considering this swap in order to prevent the "wander" problem caused by the soft sprung rear end of the X. I know about the Landyot Radius Rods but this seems like more work than swapping out the springs and more of a bandaide fix vs. addressing the actual problem with the springs themselves. One more thing, the X is my wife's daily ride, will the B code springs make the ride very uncomfortable? Will my 2 kids bounce out of their car seats?
I just put B codes on the rear and V codes on the front. The rear went up 1 1/2 inches and the front went up 2 1/2 inches due to sagging front springs. I LOVE THE RIDE. I also went with Rancho 9000's so that I could adjust the feel of the ride. I will be towing my 9500 lb Hauler next week and will tell you how that feels. Your kids will like the ride in the rear better.

I have the V10 and tow a 9000 lb TT with a Reese DC WD hitch. The rear end squats ever so slightly when towing and the "wander" scared the ^&#$ out of me the first time I towed with the X. I'd like to be able to control the wander and make the X sit level. I've already replacee the stock shocks with Bilsteins but am now considering swapping only the rear springs. Why just the rear?? Mainly because I've been reading that you need to use the longer F250 shocks if you replace the front springs but now that I've seen your reply if I replace the front & rear springs, it may appear to squat even more in the rear.

My Ex is also my wife's daily driver. The Ex also tows our Sundowner 4-horse bumper pull trailer. I've done the complete front and rear spring upgrade, with shocks and rear sway bar, and I'm finally happy (my wife is too) with how this big rig handles on the road, as well as how it tows our trailer.
It is such a solid, complete, tight, predictably handling vehicle now, it's crazy to think how Ford dropped the ball by not doing it this way to begin with.
The ride is very comfortable, and no, if your Excursion responds like mine did, your kids won't be bouncing out of their seat!
As for the front shocks, yeah, when I talked with Bilstein, they suggested the front shocks be replaced with the OEM Bilstein replacements made for the F250 4x4, but not because the Excursions replacements won't work, but rather, because there is more travel with the F250 shocks. So naturally, you'd want the proper travel, but since you already have the new shocks, I'm betting they'd still work ok, since I'm sure your wife doesn't drive the Ex too hard.
Bilsteins attitude was basically, since the shocks are getting replaced, I might as well get the longer ones since they'd better fit the new front springs.

PS - Like you, the Excursion is my wife's vehicle. She also hauls around our kids, as well as the horse trailer. I didn't have a bad wander problem until I got new tires, but once the problem reared its ugly head, I decided not to do the upgrades piecemeal. I wanted to make sure I hit a grand slam when I attacked the wander, so I did everything, except Landyots radius rods.

You don't have to use the longer shocks. I have the fitment for the X on mine. If you have an offroad shop do the labor they can change the block if needed in the rear to make sure it sits level. The differences of height on mine were due to the front factory springs sagging so much. After the spring swap, all wheel wells are within a 1/4 inch of each other so I would say it's level. However, I may do the same thing as Harvey and add 2 more inches on the block in the rear to make it sit a little higher...
Thanks for all of the valuable input. I am definitely going to be swapping out the X's springs for F250 springs after hearing about your experiences. Sorry I hadn't replied earlier, I was at the shop all day sitting around having a remote starter installed. What a nightmare, but that's another topic of discussion.
does anybody have pics of an X with the V codes up front and the B codes in the back with the bigger f 250 3.5" tapered blocks? Does it sit level once you add the bigger blocks to bring the back up a bit more?

I don't have any pictures, but I may be able to take some in a few days for you.
After the swap, my Excursion sits just a smidge higher in the rear. I think it looks great and prefer it this way because now when I hook up the trailer, the Ex is level, and not lower in the rear.
thank you. I appreciate the quick response, and look forward to seeing the pics when you get a chance. Is the ride a lot stiffer with the new springs? I only tow a 7X16 enclosed w/ at most 500 lbs of dirtbikes forward of the trailer axles, so theres not much tounge weight there, so im curious about how much the new springs will compress when i hook up the trailer.

I too had this trailer setup and 2 dirtbikes and never saw much sag on my old springs so I couldn't imagine any on the B codes as well. I used the Rancho 9000's and have them set soft and the girls haven't noticed a change in the rear ride. I can tell that it handles better though...
