I am sure this has been asked but I can't seem to find a definite number. I have a 01 Supercab, auto, 4x4. I need to know the 5th wheel towing capacity. The number I seem to keep coming up with is 12,500 lbs. Is this correct?
Is it an F350 or F250? Is it a longbed or shortbed? If it is an F350, is it a SRW or DRW? Do you want to know just the GVWR or do you want to know the axle limits, or both?

The F250 has 20,000lb GCWR (Gross combined weight rating - trailer and truck). Your truck weighs about 6000 lbs (dry and empty) and has a GVWR of 8800 lbs. So add accessories, passengers, etc. and add that to your truck weight and you will know your maximum pin weight. Let's say the passengers and gear is 1000 lbs"
6000 + 1000 lbs = 7000
8800 - 7000 = 1800 lbs.
So 1800 lbs is the maximum pin weight of your 5er to stay under the GVWR of your truck.
Now onto the max towing capacity...Taking the above example with your trailer:
You make the GCWR of your truck BUT I wouldn't want to be pulling it. Your axle ratio, transmission cooling, tow package should also need to be considered. Bottom line: it can be done, but you are pushing the limits.
You also need to be aware of axle limits also. Hope this helps

It would be easy to call your local Ford dealer, give them the VIN number and ask.
There's axle ratios, towing packages, etc that need to be considered.
