Rear Leaf Switch

I have a 89 F-150, and was wondering if a 92 F-250 Rear Leafs will fit? And will this add any height?

To make certain...I would measure between the spring eye holes. As for the height issue, depends on the number of leafs your F150 .vs the F250 springs. I would say yes...it probably will add height.

also when measuring the springs. measure overall and from front eye to center pin and from rear to center pin. the over all can be the same but the other 2 can be different from yours. FYI lmc and other parts stores list 80-96 f150-250 5 leaf pack as same part number. Some of the 150;s had a 4 leaf pack if i remember right.

Thanks for the info, my f-150 has a 4 leaf pack so I will be doing some measuring to see if I can make the switch.
Thanks again

It will all bolt together. You wont get much lift, do a shackle flip or add some blocks.

I guess I should let you guys know what I am trying to achieve and you will probably be able to help me. I would like to put 31 inch tires on which I can do at stock ride height but I am going to be using this truck for hauling wood alot and I am eventually going to put a plow on it so I need a stiffer suspension to handle the weight with the 31 inch tires. So that is why I thought the 250 leafs in the rear and a set of rancho coils in the front. And I was looking for the cheapest way of doing it. I know you all are going to say you get what you pay for but all this truck is going to see 95% of the time is woods and fields.

If you dont want much lift, just need more load carrying stability you could pull the coils off of a 2wd F250 or F350 and put them in your truck.

Well this 92 250 that I'm getting the parts from is 2wd. If the rear leafs match up will the leafs and the coils be a drop the old off and bolt the new on kind of job.

My 4wd 150 has a 302 and this guy has a 92 250 2wd has a 351 and he is getting a 88 250 2wd with a 351. It is a guy that I work with he goes around and buys junk vehicles and if he knows of anyone that needs parts he'll part them out and if not he scraps them.

why bother with old parts when it come to suspension. If you just need a little bit of lift and little extra payload. I would recomed buying a set of add-a-leaf's for the rear. And new coil for the front. If you use a 2-3 inch lift system then you shouldnt have to alter anything other than coils, and the add a leaf. The add a leaf can give you up to 650lbs extra, but remember you could put one tone leafs on and still have a half ton rear axle! To much weight and there goes the bearings and brakes among other things. Just something to think about.

my power has been out, so I havent been able to post. I thought of something that might be a problem. The 2wd might have 2.5" wide leafs, Im pretty sure the 2wd F150s got 2.5" wide leafs, not sure about a 250 tho. The 4wd's all got 3" wide leafs. The front F250 coil is a bolt in, since it wasnt under a diesel or a 460 you wont change much ride height, but the ride quality will stiffen up.

bocephus_3349...some people dont want to spend a whack of cash when the same can be accomplished for less. I know I sure wouldnt spend $150~ for a pair of coils that will do the exact same thing a $20 pair will. With an add a leaf he would have to buy the leafs, pull his packs, disassemble them, put them back together and re-install. When you could purchase complete packs that will bolt right in (provided they are 3" wide). Much less work, same end result.

For 3" of lift you need some drop brackets for the I beams, you can fudge 2" with adjustable camber bushings. The 8.8 is a durable axle, 99.9% of the over 350hp mustang guys run 8.8s with fat tires and hard launches. Sure its no sterling, but it will be plenty fine hauling firewood. I cant argue about the bearings taking more abuse tho.

Get yourself a helper spring. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

I put these on my 85 and they pretty much rocked! You can adjust them too. If i were you i would just get 2 leafs from that other spring pack and add them to your current one and put that helper spring on. It will be a noticable difference. I did this to my 85 and it made the suspension nice and stiff.
