Sorry, it's not a Ford, but it is a diesel. Goin to Winnipeg today to look at a little '87 Nissan King cab diesel. My Dad had an '84 back in the early '90's. Nice little truck and good on fuel. Only thing is that now I can run it on homebrew instead of paying the big oil companies. Gonna make going to work a LOT cheaper!!!! I'll keep you posted.
My father wants to get one of those small diesels also, they are just too damn cheap to run. A guy sould save a ton of cash driving one of them around. Too bad ford didnt make a tiny diesel!
My neighbour has an 84 Ford Ranger diesel, he had the engine rebuilt and now it`s been sitting for a couple of years as he doesn`t really need it. It`s a shame as it`s in very nice condition. He uses a diesel VW van for his bakery deliveries.
my neigbour has some little diesel pickup. think its a nissan, but just a two seater, 5spd, he built a real nice deck for it. ive been thinking of buying it, the 79 would be far to expensive, and the p-rents arnt to supportive of the idea of buying preppys truck. i just really want something with air conditioning. but, back on topic, y'all think that these trucks are pretty good then?
My folks use to have an 85 tempo diesel. It was a 2.0l mitsubishi engine with a 5 spd. That thing would get 60 mpg on the highway! Dad took it once and drove over 1000 kms on one tank of fuel, all highway, and it got 65 on that tank. He thought it was pretty funny as the fuel tripmeter rolled over to zeros again on the same tank of fuel. Probably not too many vehicles could do that.
Hey Fom --- do you think your neighbour would sell that truck? My dad might be interested.

I can ask, I was thinking of that acouple of years ago but I didn`t as it cost lots to rebuild the diesel. He doesn`t seem to sell anything, just parks vehicles in the back of his acreage. It`s a shame as last the time I saw it it looked quite nice, straight and seemingly rust free although I didn`t really inspect it closely.
I`ll pm you if I can get an answer from him, he usually saids something like we`ll see and it`s hard to pin him down when I ask him about buying something.
Well I looked at it and it's OK. THe box is nearly gone, but that can be replaced with a small deck for pretty cheap. The cab is OK, certainly not great. It startts and runs good though. A little short on power, but I think it needs injector cleaner badly. Drives and rides well. I'm waiting on a call back. I'm going for a part trade with the Geo. That way I don't have to sell the little car. I always have problems with getting rid of the old stuff even if it is in good shape. Hopefully it works out.
Sounds like a good deal you got going there Full. Our neighbour had a Toyota diesel and that thing was great on fuel. However the body rusted off around the motor, but the motor was still going strong when he parked it.
Ford makes these little trucks in Africa that are nice. They are deisel also. When asked why they not have those trucks here was someone said they do not meet the emissions standards here. I say so, they can always tweek them to meet emissions here.
Australia also has small 1/4 ton trucks there with diesel That are nice trucks plus those nice Rancheros they call Falcons down under. I would love to have one of those here. They have V8's rearwheel drive.
To have a look at those truck you search for Ford trucks Africa Or Australia and see the nice small trucks they have.
