I would like to add a single gauge, a pyro gauge.
I don't want to give up my A-Pillar grab handle.
I called Autometer and they don't make the steering column pod for a 2005-2007 truck.
I'm thinking about adding a guage just to the right of the adj. pedals switch, it appears there is room there. I would mount it on the right side but the trip computer buttons are there with the Lariat.
Has anyone done this? How do you get the front dash panel off?
I really don't want to mount it in front of the overhead console either.

I am going to put a volt meter in that very position sas my A piller is full. I have taken the cover off and it looks like the autometer ultra lite 2 1/16ths will fit. Haven't done it yet but looks deep enought.
Can't tell you more than that. To remove the dash start at the drivers side bottom coner and pull out by hand. There are snap in brackets all the way around. Need to have the shift in the lowest position and unhook all the electronic connections as well.
Colorado-native is right get the under hand A pillar and paint it to match and you're set. BUT you really need a trans temp and a boost gauge anyway as the stock tranny gauge is a joke and the boost gauges we have tested are lots of times 2-5 PSI off. Call us if you want, we'll advise you on ways to do it and keep the grab handle.
I would agree with the others and get a tranny, and boost gauge as well and if you do decide to go with 3 other gauges, I would actually try to go digital if your budget allows. You will actually be able to keep your grab bar(I do have pics of my outlook monitor in the gallery to give you an idea of where most digital monitors will mount) and you will also actually be able to look at four gauges at once, pyro gauge being one that is always in the bottom left corner, you can't change that one(all information of about the digital monitor is based on my experiance with the outlook monitor, but should apply to most of the ones out there now). You can change what is viewed in the other three boxes, you can also get a rough calculation, by rough I mean not as accurate as hooking up to a dyno, on horsepower and torque, it will also record your various times and peak values(boost, egt's and your peak times). They also have the ability to show you your true speed if you have added aftermarket bigger tires, they don't change the factory speedometer, but you have a seperate speedo in one of the four gauge slots, that will show your true speed. However, the best selling points(atleast for me) is the ability to defuel based on your set egt temps and tranny temps. Also you can use most monitors with different brand of tuners, so if you like the looks of one monitor that isn't the brand of tuner you have, most will work with other brands.
I have seen these digital monitors like the outlook monitor and others but do they come with all the wiring for all the viewing options or do you have to purchase it seperately.
For the outlook monitor, the egt probe and the harness for the other gauges comes with the monitor itself. I believe most will come in a set, as far as, which ones work best with a particular tuner, that I couldn't testify to. My tuner and monitor are from the same company,Bully Dog. I would suggest looking into what display features you want to have for you particular vehicle, you don't get exactly the same gauge displays with everyone, not because you have a different brand tuner, but some monitors are programmed to view different things for the same truck, but the core ones that I mentioned earlier are available on all, as long as your tuner supports those functions(mainly the defuel functions I mentioned). For instance, one monitor might be programmed to monitor trans slippage, while another one doesn't(if this is important to you). Look at what's important to you that each monitor will display and/or have a safety funtion for and make your decision from there.
