302 vs 351w

well all know that there is no replacement for displacement but what do you guys think you could get more
power
out of for less the 302 or 351w the only hitch is i would like to use stock rods, crank, and heads

I would port the heads and run the 351....

Me too, unless he's already got a 302. The 351w is basically a scaled up, raised block 302. Same basic design, same heads, same rod ratio...ect.. All things being equal, they will produce about the same HP per cubic inch. The tourqe output coming off idle, will be greater with more cubes too. Porting the heads is highly reccomended, because the stock heads are a bit restrictive, even on a 302. They will be even more restrictive on a larger displacement version of the same basic engine.
