backup lights dont work please help!
hey guys my backup lights dont work on my 79-f150 with c6 tranny. What could make them not work? how can i go about testing to try to get power to them once again so they work properly?

After you have checked to be sure the bulbs are good. Yes they do blow sometimes. It is probably the selecter switch. It's on the transmission. The selecter shaft runs through it. Get a buddy to help. If you pull a bulb and put some battery to the socket, you can pull the wires at the switch until you find the one with current. Good luck.

the bulbs are good. Now my question is how does the selector switch come out to change it? Also where is the netural safety switch at? By any chance could i put my truck in gear and try to see if it will turn over and if it does wouldn't that mean my netural safety switch is bad? would that be a way to test the netural safety switch? If so ill try that and get back to you.

you remove the big nut that holds the shiftand kickdown linkages on, and then remove the 2 small bolts to remove the switch. you need a buddy so you can put it in reverse with the wheels chocked so he can tell you when the lights come on. there is some adjustment in the switch.
