i agree,i also love my 300 and i plan on getting high hp (500+) out of the 300.i would like to read the article in the custom classic trucks magazine!
i also know that any one that says that it is not worth the time and money to get high hp and torque out of a 300 is just jealous that they do not have the time and money and more importantly they do not have the imagination to get it done!!!!!! so dont be jealous of someones ideas, just support them if you agree with it and if you dont want to support there idea dont put it down and say it cant be done or it is not worth it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank You!!!!!

This looks like about 300 horse or so, based on his ETs vs. a 2005.
http://www.inliners.org/race/Wiencek/Wiencek.html
This one claims a Duggan aluminum 302, for which I can find no info, dynos at 507 horse, launches at 6000, shifts at 7000, hits 8000 on top end.

Sounds streetable and all he's done should be easily adaptable to a stock 300. (suggest full engine scatter shield)
Powered by 240s or 300s, he boasts a best ET of 9.73 at 135 in an Altered. 700 horse? I think not.

Somehow he got the carbs on the other side from the exhaust. Easily done at home with a dremel tool and some tubing.

i was thinking of motifiying the block to where i can run an over head cam ran off the crank around a dummy cam so i can keep the distribiter in the stock location. i am trying to make it where you guys can use the stock block.if i can work out the water problem i can give you guys a 32 valve head and move the intake to the other side.i will have to motify the front of the block to encase the timing belt and ex the crank tip. i am pretty close to having a mockup. on my cpu.i have already made a aluminum head but i still need to test it. what problems have any of you had with the stock head as far as enginering? flow, emision, things like that.

That Mustang with a 300 is sweet! Unfortunately that's the only realistic street 300 in those links. The engine in the dragster isn't even a 300, and if it was would probably cost $20k to duplicate. At least. The engine in the FTF is awesome, but it isn't a street engine or even close to being one. Some of his other rides have good street engines in them, but not the FTF.

So to try once again to answer the question "Can a 300 six get a lot of hp?", it would seem like the answer is, yes, if you consider 300hp a lot of hp, you can get it without too much trouble.
If you want 500, your engine starts to not be a 300 anymore, but rather a custom engine with lots of Chevy parts and a new high $ head. At which point a 351w crate engine starts to look downright cheap.

yes unfortunately chevy parts need to be used on the 300 to get of the shelf parts, locally a guy has a 300 (with a 5 speed trans) powered maverick that runs 11 secs in the quarter i have to give him a call and find out exactly what he used to build it, i no longer remember, i think he also used chev 327 pistons. when i find out i will post the info.
