question for the Tech's
Hey Gents, do you guys that show up for work at the Dealers, are only dedicated to work on Diesel related engine repairs/ problems,... or do you perform other complete front to back repair work on all the Ford trucks and cars that arrive for service?

Most Ford dealerships are broken down into departments. Front end and brakes, A/C and electrical, drivability, automatic transmission and heavy line. Heavy line usually works on diesel and gas engines, manual transmission and 4x4 systems and differentials. Every Ford dealer that I have worked for had some version of this.
Ford diesel techs have to be specially certified by Ford and are usually heavy line techs also.
Most asian car dealerships are bumber to bumper.

i do whatever i need to. it doesnt matter if i an changing oil (uughhh) or doing a high pressure oil pump, brakes, or electrical. we are a heavy duty shop. i used to do front end, general, diesel work before i went into the backyard. i like to stay busy, or come friday i not a happy camper.

The dealership will send you to differnt classes and the longer your at a delaership the more classes you take the more you can work on. The service managers will assign work to the techs based on this. This all so helps on getting the better cars or trucks to work on. You only get paid the amount of hours it shows in the book. The faster you can do it the more money you can make but if you get the ugly 6.0 with problems you could end up making very little.
