Clutch problem?

Clutch problem?
Ok, bear with me here. A guy that works for me came to me and said that his early '99 is making a noise and he thinks it may be related to the clutch. He has a 7.3 with the 6 speed manual. The noise he is hearing is only when stopped with the clutch despressed. He says it sounds like a hiss that is in time with the motor. Like "hiss, hiss, hiss" with the running of the motor. When he lets the clutch out the noise goes away. He asked me to post this and see if any of you had any ideas. He's got me stumped.

Throwout barring, or not ajusted properly is my first bet, is it hard to shift into first, clutch not releacing, or maybe he worped the clutch. when he hears the noise is he in gear with clutch in or in nutral with the cluch in?

I am assuming that when he hears it the truck is in gear with the clutch depressed. I will ask him about it being hard to shift into first. He did say that he thought throw out bearing.
