I got 16 the other day and that was straight hiway driving at 80 mph with no load. Yesterday I know I did alot better, but I haven't filled the tank up to calculate it. All i know, it was the first time since ive owned the truck, the computer told me I can get 601 miles per tank. I own an 06 350 ext cab, 4x4, 3.73s with 8ft bed. My only mod is a straight piped 4in exhaust.
I have an '03 F250 Ext. Cab 4x4 w/3.73 gears and it is stock so far. I have only had this truck for 2 months but have calculated every tank fill-up so far. After 3,500 miles I have averaged 16.3 mpg and that is across a wide range of driving, daily commute, in-town, out-of-town and highway, and only pulled one trailer so far.
well, i was getting 18-20, then i got my oil changed for the first time, after that it has dropped quite a bit, i say down to 14-16.
i waiting to get it on a long trip to actually see how that goes on the mpg. the dealer couldn't tell me if the did anything else to the truck, like reflash, but i guess just magically it started eating fuel after the oil change.
What kind of MPG should i expect out of a 2005 6.0l f-250 4x4 super crew?
Or should i say what kind of MPG do you get with your 6.0l and what mods have you done to it?
I have a 04 F350 CC Dually 4.10 gears, best I ever saw was 18mpg at 80 mph empty (got me must been going down hill, lol). w/no mods 15.8 to 16.3 around town, 11mpg towing a 31ft travel trailer fully loaded around 70mph same towing boat. Went to 285 Nitto Grapplers from 235 stock and droped to 14.8mpg around town, but have ordered a SCTw/custom from I.D. told me I should see an increase of around 2mpg.
I'm surprised some of y'all are losing mileage when towing. When I tow, it can very from 7k to 12.5k, and quite a lot, more so in the spring and summer then now, but I still do quite abit now and if anything I usually gain some mileage or y'all still having a heavy foot or what? My shortest commute is little over 10 miles, the longest is 684 miles(those figures are ones that I do atleast twice a month if not more).
stupid question: what's a "super crew"? I thought that was some sort of F150 model....? I've gotten 20.6 mpg during breakin on the hwy with varrying speeds(so expect it could be better) and 12mpg with camper and towing horse trailer, but that included some good climbs, and I didn't baby it... Shouldn't be much diff. between and F350 and F250 if it's a supercab you're interested in...
Well I can understand the 12 mpg in your case, if thats the camper that your hauling and with the bumper horse trailer(how does that horse trailer handle, I've only handled gooseneck horse trailers and I just wanted to know what your input on that was as a sidebar to the thread), I can see that you generate a lot of wind resistance and plus your handling two things at one time that too would take alot out of it.
My '07 F350 CC LB is coming up on a week old with 700 miles now and the computer is saying 15.2. I have not filled it up yet, personally. I'm on the last drop from the dealer's "free" fill up and expect to find out when I stop for fuel on my way home from class tonight.
420 mi with 80 miles to empty, according to computer.
tex25025, I'd be surprised to find a lot of people doing much better than 12mpg towing. Pulling my snowmobile trailer (30ft. long, 7k lbs), I consistently get 10mpg. No matter what, if I'm pulling a trailer I always expect to get 10mpg. I'm going to add a tuner and hopefully it will go up some, but I'm not expecting much. After looking at other mpg posts, 8-12mpg seems to be the norm depending on the size and wind resistance of the trailer. If you're getting better than that, you should be stoked.
