Common problem areas
I can get a '51 '52 Ford truck for $50 Can:-staun (about $30 US). What are the things I should look at like cab corners. I'd swap out the engine, trans and rearend. Any input would be appreaciated.

At that price I'd be looking out for somebody else buying it before me! 
If you have the space to keep it and an inexpensive way to get it home it's a no-brainer for $30 Canadian. Just about any truck, even one that's missing lots of parts, will still have enough stuff on it to be worth that much. If you are thinking of restoring or rebuilding it I'd compare the body with a few other trucks that may cost more up front. A couple thousand will get you a long way with the drivetrain and engine but body work can get expensive if there's a lot to do.
