Replacing Rear Sliding Window

Does anyone have any experience with changing out the tinted manual sliding window with either a tinted 1 piece window, or better still a tinted 1 piece window with a defroster. I'm pretty sure the solid tinted rear would be pretty easy, but would really like to add a defroster. Not a purely cosmetic mod, as the manual slider is leaking (pretty sure its the window, as the headliner is dry...I'll have em do the TSB for the 3rd brake light as a precaution too) and I have never even opened it.

I know fogging really hasnt been a problem, even with the leak, so would a solid window be the easiest solution.

Beyond the window itself, what would be involved with adding a defroster to a truck that came without it. I'm pretty sure I could get the dealer to make it look like it came from the factory, but how much would it cost to get the new dash console cover with a defroster button. I know the same button controlls the heated mirrors, which I also wouldn't mind having.

Just wondering how complex each option would be.

The back windows bolt in, you have to take out the rear seat back and trim around the window to get to the bolts.
As far as the defroster goes it might not have the wiring installed to do it.

I had rear window leak. The dealer replaced it under warranty.

Good luck with the defrost.

I had the same problem on my 97. I just removed the trim and shot a bead of 100% silicone - no more leak. You might want to try that first - it's easier than replacing your whole window.

The leak could also be the rear high mount stop light. I thought my rear window was leaking, but it was actually the stoplight on top of the cab.
