Does anybody know how to upgrave the firmware on the dvd entertainment system in my 05 expedition. I make back-up copies of disney movies for viewing in the vehicle and some are ejected by the dvd saying bad disk. the work in the house on the computer or my dvd system and in other portable dvd player. I have upgraded firmware on other drives and the disks work arfter the upgrade. So I really want to upgrade the firmware or does the dealer do this?
I'm not aware of any. In fact, I doubt it's an option from Ford. They generally buy these units from Visteon with the knowledge that what you see is what you get with no post-purchase upgrade support. I use back-up copies in mine and have yet to have one refuse to read. Are these newer Disney movies? If you let me know which ones are giving you problems I can let you know if they work in my car.
For some reason I've noticed it matters what dvd burner and decoder program was used. I've burned a movie with my software, doesn't work, uncle burns same movie with different software, and it worked. Wierd!
I have been copying all of the latest movies that I buy I copied cars 1st copy failed second worked over the hedge worked first shot. Wllace and grommitt gave me a problem too. I also switched from cheap blanks to name brand TDK Memeorex or Verbatim. I just know that a lot of drive have to have firmware upgraded to be compatible with various media type was hoping to find something. I will keep looking and let you all know if I find something.
