That is not unlike what you would see at most any dealership around the country.
The bottom line is that, in many situations, a vehicle has to be pushed outside if we are waiting on parts or approval. However, if I have to push one out, I at least remove my tools and shut the hood if I can.
What is the concern with your truck? And, what is taking so long to get it fixed?
The concern is that it's crappy customer service, if they are gonna leave a $30k plus truck with hood visibly open on an open lot with their tools still there so that a possible hood rat can come by and screw with the engine/parts kinda makes you question the dealership's service dept. I really could care less because I have an lawyer on payroll and if something is wrong or goes wrong they'll fix it at their cost or they'll be buying me a new truck. As far as what's taking so long, you tell me. truck went in to have the y pipe replace and possibly the turbo, turbo is off old y pipe is still there, had to wait 2 week to get an appointment, truck went in wensday didn't touch it until mid morning Friday, go figure. I have talked to the tech several times, nice guy, told me he's backed up, honest goes along way w/me. The ****** at the desk give u the run around and transfer u to voice mails and don't call back. Sad, do they not pay these guys enough (techs) shortage of diesel tech at dealer only 1.
Perhaps I should have worded that question better. I meant why did you have to take the truck in? Did it have an exhaust leak at the y-pipe?
No problem, yes, I had been told that I more than likely have a hole in the y pipe, had a hissing sound for sometime (can hear it up to 10ft away from truck), loss of power bad, bad turbo lag. Turbo didn't sound anything like it normaly should, have to really listen sometimes to hear it. Had been told by a few people that I probably have some turbo issues as well. Mostly want to make sure everything is as good as it should be, before I start mod the truck, I have waited this long to do anything for fear oof voiding warrenty.
I don't plan on blowing it out of porportion, however I will address it after the truck is done and I go to pick it up. I will not take the truck back there again, I will just have to take it back to the dealer I purchased it from 70 miles away. They also will not get my business when it's time to purchase the next truck in a year or two.
Let me ask this...do they do good work? As in get your stuff fixed correctly the first time?

To be totally honest with you, not too happy with them, 1st trip took in to have tranny serviced ($250), had to have yoke seal on rear end replaced (leaking covered under 3/36), 2nd trip reprogram recall and hissing noise from engine compartment and oil seal out again (out of warranty), got truck back ran "OK" noticible loss of power and told me they couldn't hear any hissing. 3rd trip two weeks after 2nd, truck would shut down in rev, jumped into intersection at light with foot on brake and would accelerate on it's own at high speeds, reprogramed truck and replace some stuff, sheet had all codes on it, now in for the hissing that now they hear and didn't hear the last 2 times.....so over all I'd have to say not too happy with them or their repairs.
Truck still not done today, went by dealer around 10:30am truck and tech was out on road, when tech got back, asked him what was going on with truck. He said turbo was good, y pipe had hole in it large hole, but turbo was only producing 17lbs, said he thinks theres still a leak somewhere. So I left thinking the truck would be done today, called dealer around 4:30, talked to adviser, he told me that the tech had ordered parts a day or so ago and is waiting on parts and maybe able to work on truck tomarrow. WTF is going on!!! Truck has been there since wensday last week, I would so love to knock an advisors teeth out, where TF do they find these ASSES!!

If you're not clearly expressing your expectations to the Service Advisor and Technician, you'll definitely and always be disappointed.
I believe it's best to clearly state what you expect to be done and get a clear answer on when to expect your truck to be finished. Get those answers in writing, verbal agreements leave plenty of room for plausible denial!
The Technician will more than likely have a better idea of these answers than most, but not all, Service Advisors. Service Advisors remind me of most Real Estate and Marketing folks. Lots of promises as long as they don't have to write it down and give you a copy.
I apologize in advance to Beachbumcook for the Marketing comment.
Are you in a rental car/truck? The service advisors need a class in empathy. They should take thier transportation away from them for a couple weeks a year and make them pay for a rental and thier car payment at the same time sometimes if it's used for work no pay also. They don't seem to care. I found a good one but there always so busy. I can't always wait two week for an appointment.
I'd be more concerned about how the truck works after it's all fixed and put back together. I agree it's a shock to see all your baby's guts laying all over. I would not like to see it myself. But, if you trust your dealership and their techs, then let them do what they do best and step back for now. If not, add this to the list and find a different one if you can. I'm sure open air and/or weather are less than in-service engine conditions. If you have a service issue afterwards, then go for it for sure. Just my .02 cents.
I wouldn't be happy. This is just sloppiness. I'd wonder how good of a job they did fixing my truck if they have problems with details like this. I can almost get the he has to put parts somewhere, but what about the tools? Unless he has a set for every car/truck that he starts, there is no excuse for it.
I'd probably just email the dealer the pics and ask them to explain them. If they know anything about customer service, they should be apologizing pretty quick. If they don't understand the problem, I'd probably be looking for another dealer because they obviously have no respect for property.

Nope no rental, been round and round with them about that on previous visits, they said its not their policy to do rentals after the 3/36. Sad part is they are a BIG dealership.
