2nd gear synchronizer

When i got to shift my 1993 f150 5.0 5spd into 2nd it hits really hard. It grinds sometimes and it is hard to get into 2nd, is tht the synchronizer ring goign out? and how big of a problem is that, will it lead to more problems?

Yes that's your synchro going out.

You'll eventually have to double clutch to get it into second gear.

How are the rest of the gears? Might be time to start looking into a rebuild.

ummthey shift fine, thier is a lot of play inthe shifter though in each gear and a loud rattling noise once u hit about 40MPH and it done'st matter if im in 2nd 3rd or 4th for teh noise
