If anyone is familiar with the inner-workings of a steering gear box, maybe they can help me figure this out.
While making a hard left in my '51 F1 with stock steering, I heard and felt a pop. When I turn the steering wheel to the right the shaft seems to unscrew almost 4 turns then stops. It will not turn the wheels at all to the right, but I can turn left.
Is this my steering box? Is there some sort of a pin that has broken or do you think the entire box is trashed?
Is there a particular shop manual that you'd recomend to help guide me?
$$ is tight as I'm laid off.....any tips would be appreciated!
