Glow plug controller smoking

This morning the tempature was low and I turned the key and let the WTS to go out. I turned it off and turned it back on I noticed smoke and upon investigation the smoke is coming from the GP module. I guess the controller is now toast. Can I still disconnect the white wire and hook the bypass switch to it? Also there is fuel on top of the fuel tower. Any ideas where it is leaking from?

The heater connection is the one on top of the header.
If I remember right an O ring seals it.

Are you sure the smoke was coming from the controller?
Any corrosion on the wires to the relay will cause heat from the resistance corrosion creates. This can cause the wires and connectors to get hot with the large amperage draw of the glow plugs.

Yes, as long as the relay is not toasted, you can still convert to manual operation.
