Shock Absorber Application ?

i have a 78 f150. I was wondering if i have a 3" lift on it now and go to a 6" lift. Will i have to change shocks? I looked up some shocks and some say 3.5-6" lift.

Well it would actually depend on what shocks are on it know wouldn't it? Yes some shocks say that range on lift but look up the part number for the shocks you have now and see what range they are supposed to work in. Personally I feel anytime you change ride height by more than an inch or 2 you probably should change the shocks.

see the boy that had it b4 me put the lift on it. it has 3" blocks and 4" coils. I'd have to measure the shocks to see how high they are. About how tall are 6" shocks?? and how do i change the thread title??

You can only edit for 60 minutes after your originally post the question, but I could modify it for you if you want just send me a PM with what you think it should be.

10 minutes for editing thread title.....MB will take care of it.

Most shocks I have seen only have a max 5" travel.
is there any identifiable markings, labels, logos, colour of the shocks already on it ?

The stickers are just that stickers and usually aren't on the shocks when new anyway. If they are rancho the name and part number will be engraved in the shock body towards the bottom. no matter who's shocks they are almost all engrave a part number into the shock body somewhere, you might have to look on the backside to find it.

i just got these for 10 bux. i know they need some tlc but i think they will work i was told that they come off a truck with what looked to be 4" susp lift. The rs5000's are for 4-6" lifts correct?? but this afternooon i'll get the numbers off my shocks and post em up...they will probably be up for sale anyway!
