Engine Stumbling?

My engine seems to stumble and shake a little when accelerating lightly under 1300 rpm, it will also smoke a little during this stumbling. It seems to come and go, it wont happen all the time, cold or warm it still happens. I checked my filters and fluids, they all are fine. Any ideas?

mine is doing the same thing. i'm searching on here to see what it might be. any ideas are appreciated. it stumbles or dies randomly when i'm accelerating at low rpms, or it sometimes dies when i am idling. this is not convenient in a curve! LOL. again, it's all random.

Gonna bump this one. I see no answers as of yet. It is getting late and I will be working again tomorrow. Hopefully somone will chime in. If not, I will dig throught the DVD manual for you, uggghhh. Maybe tomorrow night or the next day for me but that DVD is so full of stuff it can really hurt my head. Also, stumbling at lower RPMs with a shake does not sound good. Sounds like a fuel problem or lack of HPO to get her going. But without checking, not sure, may even be a throttle assembly issue. Stay tuned.

FYI, I'm on my third CPS and I've replaced a relay. All of this has been done in the last month.

I had the same stumbling issue that you guys are having, but it stopped once I cleaned the EBP sensor. Mine hadn't been changed and was filled all sorts of black gunk and goodies. As soon as I cleaned it, the stumbling, rough idle, and poor acceleration stopped and my truck ran better.....for a little while. Now I'm back to square one, so I'm ordering a new one off of ebay as I'm typing this. It's at the front of the engine, behind the highest pulley; a one inch socket will do the trick.

Sounds like a bad injector or the old under the valve cover wiring harness problem is happening.

mine did the same thing took it to ford dealer and had a bad injector srry!

any way to test the injectors? how hard is it to replace them yourself?

all i know is you can have someone put a diagnostic tool in your diagnostic connector and it will tel ya. as for as replacement cant be that hard you have to replace valve gasket too tho.but if your running rough and enigine shakin loss of power like mine was its prop. and injector. ford did mine cause i was new to diesels lol

You need a cylinder contribution test to test the injectors. Can be done with some programmers or an AutoEnginuity. Or take to dealer/shop.

I would check the harnesses first, no cost there.

I believe the VC gasket is reusable unless it's boogered up.

Its time for me to buy the AutoEnginuity Ford bundle from ITP Diesel, Im sure I can put it to use with the amount of work I do to my truck.

Yeah, I'm jonesing for that pretty bad myself. Especially since the wife's truck is an F150. Still gotta sell that concept.
