Overdrive/Acceleration Problems
Overdrive/Acceleration Problems
Hey:
I just bought an 01 F-150 5.4L 4x4...and i have had a couple problems already, just wondering if any of you guys could help me out. First off the "Service Engine Light" came on. And whenever you have the truck in overdrive at about 60 it shakes, but when i turn the overdrive off its perfect. Thats my first problem. My second one is, whenever i accelerate it feels like the engine is lagging. Like if i keep my foot on the pedal and dont move it. I truck will lag, then accelerate normally...somtimes it will just lag up until i reach crusing speed. Then, i dont know if this will help, but then i accelerated rapidly just to see if it would still lag. And it did and the service engine light started to blink. When i slowed down to about 60 and cruised normally, the light stoped blinking and remaind on. Any help would be great

Welcome to the forum
I would first, have the truck scanned for codes and post them here. AutoZone will scan it for free.
I Would suspect a dirty MAF causing a lean condition.
How many miles are on it and has it ever been tuned up?
