Anyone run into these? During this last engine swap I did a re-seal of a '70 429. I popped the rod and main caps to check clearance and found them to be copper,.... NO babbitt. At first I thought they were just competely shot, but they miked within spec. They also have a C9 year code and are at standard.
Its just curiosity at this point. I ended up using them with no problems... 45 lbs. hot at idle with 10-30 oil.

BTW - the copper showing indicated wear - but does not really mean damage. The tin overplate that gives the silver color is only a half thou thick - your measuring equipment might not even pick it up...
