My name is Jesse
My grandfather gave this nice 88 Bronco II 2.9L V6 To my aunt she left it in her driveway for over 2 years without even trying to run it it is sad but she gave it to my dad which gave it to me and said i can have it if i can get it working and i love this thing because it was my grandfather's and my grandfather passed away but anyway i got the battery charging now everything works but the engine won't turn over i already know it needs gas and some oil but it just makes a clink sound when i try to start it up now i know the engine is siezed and i removed the sparkplugs and i'm gonna put some Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders tommorow but is there anything i can do to get the engine to break free and at an affordable price
You're on the right track with thw M M oil. You don't want to rush this proceedure. If you decide to get physical & reef the engine over, you stand a good chance of breaking rings &/or pistons & so on.
M M oil, diesel fuel, tranny fluid etc. have been used by lots of folks to free up an engine. While you're waiting for the oil to do it's work, you can look after other parts of the truck to see what all it needs.
Any time you have questions, feel free to ask. Remember that the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
AL.
have you checked the starter and solenoid to make sure they are good? engine may not be seized, but the solenoid may the clink you are hearing, thus the starter isn't getting any power.
Chock the front and back of at least two wheels, set the parking brake, disconnect the battery, remove the coil wire, remove the starter, put the truck in N, and see if you can turn the engine over with a 1/2" breaker bar from the front of the engine.
Turning it from a flywheel bolt is not a good idea.
the front where you are trying to turn it is the crankshaft pulley..that is the best way to turn the engine over..as mentioned by rebocardo put the truck in N and chock the wheels.if it still won't turn.try taking all spark plugs out to see if that helps.
Pull the spark plugs, throw a couple (3 to 4) tea-spoons of diesel down each plug, put the spark plugs back in and let it sit for a couple of days (don't tighten the spark plugs up all the way though). After a couple of days, pull the plugs again and then try and turn it over, if it does turn over, put the plugs back in and try to fire it up. If it doesn't turn over pull the starter and get it check out, if it's fine than I would look at an electrical issue, possibly replace the starter relay (it's cheap enough to try) and check all grounds....
