Hi guys, I have a 1993 F-150, with a 5.0 , auto tranny.
Out of nowhere, my interior, rear cab, and lights inside the doors started staying on, and it is killing my battery, I am too the point where it is draining the battery, and really messing me up.
Anyhow I went to pull the fuse, and they stayed on, unfortnatly I had to pull 2 fuses in order to get it to turn off, anyone know where I should look, or where i should start, or even have a wiring schematic. Thanks for the help
Rich, this may sound stupid, but did you check the light switch to make sure it wasn't turned all the way where it turns on the interior lights? If that is OK it may be the door switch. You can disconnect the switch, (drivers/passenger) and see what one puts the lights out.
I did check the door switches, and neither put them out, I also put a test light on them, and got the same result on both sides, regardless off the button being pushed in.
If you checked the door switch with a test light you will not get anything. They are a ground that the switch completes when the button is out and if the switch is bad just pushing them in may not do it. You will need to disconect the wire from them to see if the light goes out.
I pulled both door switches, and the lights are still on, I also removed the fuse that is supposed to be for that circuit, and the light stays on, anyone know where i should start checking for a short?

This is not true, they pass current on to the lamps.
Here are the wiring diagrams of the Courtesy Lamps:
Have you done any work on the interior and put a sheet metal screw in somewhere and hit a wire making a ground for the interor lights. I have had this problem and found the rust in the door plunger to be the problem.
no, it just started happening one day, I diconnected both door plungers and no luck, also it requires two fuses to get the power to the lights off.
Rich
If you pull fuse #8 by its self and the lights do not go out you have a short from another power wire. Find out what the second fuse you have to pull feeds and this may give you a clue.
Also post the number of the second fuse, fuse #8 a 15-amp fuse should be the only fuse supplying power to the circuit.
