I not the expert on the 61-64 era slicks, but do a search for swapping entire chassis from your 78, onto your body of your 63, I know there's numerous differences but folks like Banjopicker 66 , Fordboypete & others are the mentor's on this subject.
The 65-66 era is the easiest chassis to upgrade engine's, drivetrain & steering etc.
but everything is possible...
Well I've got her to my garage. I'm not really sure where to start with asking for advice. I geuss I can tell you guys what I want and you can tell me what is possible and what is the best way and cheapest way to do it. I plan on lowering the vehicle eventually. I am more or less concerned with removing and fixing rust spots. That alone will keep me busy for a little while at least. Should I remove fenders and everything? There isn't very much rust on the vehicle, a little here and there. Only 3 spots where its bad. The one is where the spare tire WAS mounted on the outside of the box, I plan on just cutting, patching, and filling those over and not putting another spare there. The other two spots are inside the doors where you step to get into the truck. Those are decently bad, and I'm not sure how to go about them. Once I get AA batteries for my camera I'll show you guys what I'm working with. Where can I get a body kit for it? I want it to be lowered but I also want the newer body kit on it to make it look nicer. I also want to put a hood scoop and dual exhaust. Those are two of the other things I can think of right now. Another big question I have is can I put a moon roof in it? I mean if I do there may be some overhang over the box, but no biggy there with me. If so can I just buy any moon roof from a junk yard and put it on or should I actually look for somthing custom made? The other question, is what type of engine should I get if I'm looking for a fast accelerating vehicle. I may think about running it in local drags around here, so the quicker the better. Thanks again for all your help.
