stan's headers

just wondering if anyone has used headers on there 6.9's? are they worth the money?
my y pipe has a fist sized wole in it and i hear they are very restrive anyways so i was wondering if the headers are a better bet the just replacing it with a stock on.

ps. stupid question but how do you do a forum search?

Yeah, the most recent person to buy and install a set was KJLYCPW. He really liked them. I started a thread about 3 weeks ago to try to get together a group buy on them since I live about 2 miles from his shop. There were about 5 or 6 folks interested - though one or two said they'd want to wait a couple of months. Use the search, find the thread and post a message to bring the thread back to the top and we'll see if there are more people interested....

I attained positive power gains by installing headers, but also ram air and no soup bowl produced noticeable gains. I am still pushing all my exhaust through a single 3 inch pipe, so I don't believe I have achieved full benifit from the headers yet. They are rather expensive, but there are no moving parts as compaired to a Turbo system. I figure to get more power by moving exhaust out easier is cheaper and simpler than boosting the input charge, plus less chance of cracking blocks and blowing head gaskets, With they way it is set up now I max out my EGT at 1000*, so when I move up to a 4" exhaust I figure I will be able to up the fuel screw a flat with no worries. As Cheeper said pull up the previous post on headers, down side is fabricating a cross over system to hook it all up- another additional cost you don't know about till you get it all bolted in place. It's all about the bling.

Guys the seach function is not working till the new server is installed.
The new server was back ordered, and Admin had to chose between disabling a few features or crashing the site.

Seach was one of the features that bit the dust so the site was able to function.
All will be restored as soon as the new server arrives and is online.

I will find the post and bump it up for you.

Sorry for the mis information, there were so many complaints that Admin turned it back on for users with more than 25 posts and juggled some other stuff to save CPU power.

I guess the new server will be online in about 1.5 weeks.

I could not tell about the search feature, Admin, Club FTE members and moderators still had the search feature activated.

If the server gets overloaded search may be on at low usage times and off during peak times.

That is the latest from above.

Any word on why the forum doesn't mark messages as read, after I've read them? Is that one of the things they disabled (or set to a less frequent refresh maybe) to save CPU cycles & HDD read/writes?

I now have a 4" exhaust from the Y back see signature. Just got back from a road trip, all highway miles @ 55 - 70 mph, truck empty with topper and two people full fuel weight about 7200 lbs. 20 US MPG Most noticeable differance with the headers is more power. ie it didn't kick down to third gear at all, was able to maintain 4 th unless kicked down to pass.
